Meet Jansen Woo, DDS, FAGD

Dentistry is such a great blend of art and science. I enjoy working with my hands and interacting with people, and I can see that the work I do has a direct effect on the quality of life of others. Good dental care is such a privilege in this world and should not be taken for granted.

I see every patient as a unique individual. Many of my patients work fascinating jobs, have varied interests, and live meaningful lives. A good number of them share stories, ideas, and laughs with my team and me, and we love every moment!

A Lifetime of Learning

Becoming a dentist requires years of dedication and commitment to education. I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002 and completed my Certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry in 2004 from the University of Maryland.

I spend numerous hours a year participating in continuing education courses that take the form of lectures, hands-on courses, and self-study. By being involved in continuing education, I am committed to providing the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in this ever-changing profession.

In 2014, I earned a Fellowship Award in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). The AGD is an organization that promotes quality patient care through lifetime learning. The AGD Fellowship Award (FAGD) is presented to dentists who seek to provide the highest quality dental care by remaining current in their profession.  Completing 500 hours of continuing education and passing a comprehensive written exam are requisites in earning this prestigious honor.

Currently, I meet with other local dentists who are also invested in continuing education through the Spear Study Club in order discuss real-life cases and actual treatments with expert clinician presenting the latest techniques. This study club encourages guided learning, interaction and interdisciplinary camaraderie.

I also study at the Dawson Dental Academy, an organization that teaches principles and skills necessary for the practice of complete, high quality, and predictable dentistry with primary concentrations in occlusion, the temporomandibular joints, and comprehensive aesthetic restorative dentistry.

Outside the Office

I have lived in Northern Virginia for most of my life and currently reside in Vienna with my wife, Sara, and our kids.

When I’m not spending time with my family, I enjoy photography, art, music, playing the guitar, reading, studying Christian theology, Civil War history, and following Washington area sports.

I am also very involved in my community. My wife and I founded From Here to There, a 501(c)3 public charity that provides scholarships to at-risk youth in the Baltimore/Washington area.
